Alchemy: A power or process that takes a common element, usually of little or no value, and makes it more valuable (Webster).   -A person taking part in the above process would loosely be referred to as “alchemist.

Perhaps you remember the story Gulliver’s travels about “The island of Lilliput?” story The people were very very small there. The size of your thumb! When the stranger awoke, he found himself tied up by them. Their ropes were like thread to him. One wouldn’t think that these threads could tie such a large person. But he was shocked to note that all together, the strings (ropes) did just that! Similarly, one element, say holy water, may or may not have a noticeable effect. But when one adds focused intention, prayer, mantra, homeopathics, flower essences, sacred geometry or stones etc, then with that energetic layering process, behold….Lilliput!

Come with me as I show you the “ropes” so to speak:

Clay: (we’re made of it!) Even before I started implementing all of the elements that today make up Medicine Walls, I had on occasion made people cry, after they’d strolled in to witness their freshly “clayed” room for the first time! (source) This was very odd to me indeed!  I thought maybe it was just that it was THAT beautiful. We’ve all teared up at least once in our lives (hopefully) after seeing something breathtakingly beautiful! But honestly, that explanation always felt incomplete. Yes, the wall WAS gorgeous! But I have come to believe that it likely has another huge and overlooked  element (literally) to it. Mainly that we are made up of elements.

When we design our homes, we remember to emphasize some of the elements, but often de-emphasize others. For instance FIREIf budget allows, we add a fireplace or at least a heater. AIR: Often a filtration system is added and lots of open windows….speaking to the importance of good, clean air. WATER: Water filters for clean drinking water, a waterfall, a bath tub, or maybe even a swimming pool! But this one… EARTH? Earth can be overlooked or at least often undervalued! Sometimes a marble countertop or stone floor is added which can bring a great earth element into play. But alas, often its all about carpet on floors and tile on countertops. As you know, we are made of these elements, and when one is either somewhat lacking or missing altogether, then at least on a subconscious level, we are hungry for that element. Imagine for a moment being in outer space maybe in a “tin can”, rotating the earth for a year. When you finally land, what would you most likely and wholeheartedly do? Probably what a ships’ captain who has been out to sea for a year does…get down on your knees and kiss the ground! (Often when making a point, one has to go to the extreme to bring it home). O.k. so, maybe we aren’t without earth completely! But to the extent we are lacking these minerals, we will be anemic. Which I believe explains the “waterworks” upon my clients seeing the earth in their home for the first time!

Let’s look at some of these “threads” (ingredients) that when artfully combined, form the strong rope of efficacy:

Clay (Americanclay.com)– has so many great qualities. And for the techies here, I will mention a few important ones. On a practical level, it absorbs ambient (surrounding) moisture that might otherwise foster mold in one’s living space. Then when the temperature warms up, it (water) evaporates. This process is described as the walls “breathing”. –Clay has more moisture load capacity than about any other material, second only to open grain wood. It is slightly alkaline, which is also mold inhibiting. Another interesting factor is its negative ion emissions. (negative ions) Research touts negative ions having a mood enhancing effect (waterfalls and the ocean generate them). Computer labs use the clay for their walls, for it doesn’t have as much build up of added electrical charge. And last but not least, clay promotes clean air in your environment. I.e. most wall finishes have a positive ion charge and dust particles have a negative charge. This causes the dust particle to attach to the positive ion, and then to walls that have artificial (paint) finishes. All one has to do is brush up against a wall, to have a flurry of dust released into the air. With clay it (dust) never attaches to the wall in the first place and falls to the floor to be vacuumed up. How considerate!lol

INTENTION- It is said that thought is quantum. It’s hard to know exactly what that means, but lets look first at a hologram. Every part of the whole is contained also in it’s parts. So if I shift “A” to the left (for instance) then all the rest of the “alphabet” moves in kind. This is what’s hinted at with the phrase “change yourself, change the world”. This describes the omnipresent potential of thought (or as the mystic Paramahansa Yogananda put it “center everywhere, circumference nowhere”). Everyone has had the experience of thinking about a person and having them call at that very moment. This hints at the Omniscient (all knowing) aspect of thought. Thought is beyond time and space. All of the above speaks to the tremendous (potentially unlimited) power of thought. I call “focused” thought the joker in our mental deck!

What are the experts saying? Dr. Wayne Dyer famously said “you’ll see it when you believe it!” When Christ was asked “how should we pray”? He responded “with all of your heart, mind and soul”! What a great guide for manifesting (quantum shifting) to what we want! Rudolpf Steiner, the creator of the Waldorf schools (and soo much more) once stated, that when he dedicated one room to Moses and another to Jesus, people could feel the difference! This got me thinking (all those years ago) how by using this “technology”, I could raise the “vibe” of a given space. One thing led to another and eventually culminated to what I am now calling Medicine Walls! Thought (intention) bleeds into (and amplifies) every technology that we will be discussing here!

MANTRA -We use mantra all of the time. Unfortunately it is often to our peril! If for instance we often say in our head, something like “I am no good… my dad was right about me”! That inner mantra will most certainly have an effect. And likely a self defeating one. If on the other hand you have an inner, re-occurring dialogue that goes something like, “my dad is right about me..I can do anything I put my mind to”! Then that mantra will help move you to a whole different place. Some mantras are thousands of years old. It is said that they can become more powerful over time. It appears as though they create a strong metaphysical link by their having been constantly repeated. Not all mantras are created equally though. There is a bit of an art to finding the best mantra for an individual, but many would say that their mantra or ‘mantras’, are among their most precious of possessions. That may sound strange to those not too familiar with this technology (medicine), but i can attest to this being exceedingly true- in my case! It has been called “the golden cord to heaven”  (Ecknath Eashwaren), in his mantra handbook. Gandhi was chanting God’s name as he breathed his last breath, after being tragically and fatally shot. He knew what he was doing! (in this context, one might call mantra a sort of spiritual GPS that takes you home) This is a very deep subject that we can but touch on here. Suffice it to say…we need this medicine (technology) in our bag!
